Announcing Upcoming Suicide Prevention Series (2022-2023)
Updated: Oct 3, 2022
World Suicide Prevention Month, September 2022, is nearly over. However, as we said on World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10, 2022, Off The Bench Ministries is committed to keeping the suicide prevention topic alive throughout 2022-2023.
This post will provide a broad overview of suicide prevention articles and posts you can expect from us in the coming months. I invite you to share your thoughts and suggestions. Of course, you are welcome to submit your testimonies as well. If you do, this series will come alive!
"You Are Irreplaceable" Suicide Prevention Series
With your help, we can share the "You are Irreplaceable" message globally. Although suicide is complex, many who complete suicide feel isolated and unloved. If we save one person from suicide by reminding them of their value, then sharing a sincere "You are Irreplaceable" message was worth it.
Suicide Topic Categories
Our articles and posts will fall under four suicide-related categories.
Suicide Prevention: Suicide Prevention articles will include two sub-components; those that center on finding one's meaning and purpose in this life and those dealing with finding God for eternity. We will publish approximately seven articles for each subcategory—fourteen pieces for Suicide Prevention.
Suicide Intervention: Suicide Intervention articles will reflect one of three subtopics. Each subtopic is a model from which to help intervene with a person contemplating suicide. These models include Medical Model (three posts), Wellness Model (four articles), and Biblical Model (seven pieces)-fourteen essays for Suicide Intervention.
Post-Attempted Suicide: Some of the most powerful stories and testimonies come from people who have attempted suicide. We will share personal testimonies from those who did not complete their suicide attempt (seven stories) and from family/friends who were affected by their suicide attempt(s) (seven testimonies)-fourteen stories for Post-Attempted Suicide.
Suicide Survivors: Of all who suffer, none suffer more than the suicide survivors. Suicide survivors are the friends and loved ones who are left behind after a completed suicide. We will share their stories and testimonies about how God has sustained them in the worst times of their life. At a minimum, we will feature fourteen testimonies from suicide survivors.
Posting Schedule
We plan to publish 56 suicide-related articles from September 2022 - September 2023. Thus, we will post (on average) one article per week. For consistency and value, we will post at least one piece from each subtopic category per month. For example, in the first week of the month, we will post on suicide prevention. In the second week, we'll focus on suicide intervention. In the third week, a post-attempt story. Finally, a testimony from a suicide survivor in the last week of each month.
Call for Articles, Stories, and Testimonies
If you have experience dealing with suicide prevention or suicide intervention from a Christian perspective, we would like to consider it for inclusion. In addition, if you have a personal story or testimony from a Christ-Centered viewpoint, we are most interested in how suicide has affected your Christian faith. Contact us for contributing author guidelines.
Please help us "stand in the gap" by sharing this post with anyone who may need it! Thank you, and may God Bless you and yours!
