Are You Bearing Good Fruit? (2022)

Updated: Sep 28, 2022

"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit." Matthew 12:33

I have been thinking a lot about lukewarm Christians lately. Specifically, the notion that “lukewarm” is unacceptable to God. All of us either need to get hot or get cold to God, but not lukewarm.

Jesus appears to be saying the same thing regarding the tree bearing fruit. We are the symbolic “tree,” and the tree needs to make a conscious choice: make the tree good or bad.

This is our free-will choice. Jesus demands an answer to His question, “Are you for me or against me?” His forced choice (either/or) makes this clear. It is not a rhetorical question...He really is waiting patiently for our answer.

By their actions--their fruit--many people have taken a stand. They have decided to be for or against God. We see this every day in the news and across social media.

Have you made a decision to make the tree good or bad? I believe you have chosen wisely to make the tree good. If so, what will you do today to bear good fruit for the Lord? Of course, when all else fails, you can always pray! Or, you can start your own Christian ministry! Look at 5 Biblical Ministries for Newbies or how the Off The Bench Water Ministry started.
