How Faith is the Invisible Thread
There is an invisible thread that connects all believers to Jesus. You can't earn it or sacrifice enough for it. Your invisible thread isn't for sale; Jesus already paid the price. Faith is your invisible thread. You can't see it, but you know where it leads.
"Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls." 1 Peter 1:8-9
Some may ask, "if the thread is invisible, how do we know if we have it?" The Apostle Peter answers the question. Once we have faith and believe in something we can't see, we receive the unmistakable joy of salvation.
Perhaps God works with each believer differently. He uses different symbols, metaphors, and analogies to draw us deeper into the mysteries of His word; the Holy Bible. But to discover the invisible thread of faith, we must spend time in the Bible.
I didn't experience the "inexpressible and glorious joy" Peter speaks of until after I read the Bible. Beginning Genesis 1 on January 16, 2022, I finished reading Revelation 22:21 on July 26, 2022.
Six months and ten days of daily reading. Why God withheld His joy from me until I read His word is unknown. However, I wonder if it had something to do with my faith. I "thought" I knew Jesus, but perhaps I couldn't answer His question that came to me at 3:00 am, "Is the Bible Valid and Reliable Today?" without reading the books! Yes, some labor intensity is involved if you seek an invisible thread leading to Jesus.
The scripture tells us,
"You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13
We see the connection between "inexpressible joy" and seeking Him with all our hearts. Reading the Bible isn't a scholarly activity (unless you are an academic). Nor is it an assignment that you must endure in college.
Instead, the Bible is a full-immersion experience in which you and I are participants. Once we see the light of this reality, we will be better able to see the "invisible" as clear as the morning sunrise.
Scripture tells us, "Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death..." Hebrews 11:5
How is this possible? Faith.
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Hebrews 11:6
Whether the reward of inexpressible joy comes after reading the Bible or some other challenge God offers you, it's clear the result is pleasing to God because of our faith.
The invisible thread of faith leads us directly to the door, the gate of Jesus Christ. Have you discovered the invisible thread of faith? Have you experienced the inexpressible joy of knowing Jesus as your Lord and Savior? It is easier than you might imagine. Jesus tells us,
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." Revelation 3:20
