Lord, Do You Know What Time It Is?
I'm convinced that God exists in a different time zone. He can be like that family member who calls for an extended conversation right before you go to bed. But with me, God doesn't seem to care what time it is. If He has something to say, He's calling! That's why I'm sharing this post with you.
"He will not let your foot slip - He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep." Psalm 121:4
(Note: Special thanks to Pastor Phil Jackson for delivering the appropriate scripture for this post!)
Lord, Do You Know What Time It Is?
Here's pretty much how the script went this morning. No question about it; life's adventure increases as we get closer to God. We may lose a little sleep as well.
Holy Spirit: "Trace, wake up! I want to talk with you!"
Me: Groggily, I press the light button on my old-school Fit Bit. The numbers read 03:00. Lord, do you know what time it is? It's 3 AM! I close my eyes and start to drift into dreamland. And then, like a drill sergeant with a garbage can in his left hand and a baseball bat in his right, the noise party begins!
Holy Spirit: "TRACE! GET UP...GET OUT OF BED...I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY!"
Me: I didn't fly out of bed, but I knew sleep was no longer an option. Lord, can I make some coffee?
Holy Spirit: "Yes. I'll wait."
Me: "Okay, Lord, what's up? I'm listening."
Is The Bible Valid and Reliable Today?
Holy Spirit: "Is the Bible valid and reliable today?"
Me: Absolutely, Lord. Your word says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8. That means the Bible is valid and reliable today. I thought I was going to hear the Holy Spirit say, "Good answer! Now go back to bed." Nope. Instead, I hear...
Holy Spirit: "How you answer this question makes all the difference. I will tell you what I want you to say about this."
With my Amazing Grace Coffee, I got up from the table and went outside on the patio. I looked up. The moon shimmered in its brilliance. The stars were bright and seemed to dance as the cirrus clouds drifted by. I felt alive and awake at a time when others were soundly sleeping. I felt the love, joy, and peace we read about in God's word.
A stream of thoughts flowed into my awakened mind as I enjoyed the quiet morning. Each thought was directly related to the Holy Spirit's pressing question: "Is the Bible Valid and Reliable Today?"
As I began to write the thoughts down in my journal, I felt a "smile" in my spirit. I knew what God wanted me to write about for our next article. That post should be out tomorrow.
My real question is, do you ever hear from God like this? If so, does He "call" you during "normal" hours or in the middle of the night like me? Finally, are you having as much fun with God in your life? If not, just say "yes" to His question. Your life will change in the twinkling of an eye!
